It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are the only things left for a side that has won it all.

It needed up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to produce her newest gem.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

Whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a challenging time because I feel like I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that the right-hander was in motion.

"An opportunity to go out there and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed the team required another 66 at one run per ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the confidence to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

During the last week a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

However although she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as captain.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
