AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season
In a unexpected crossover event that defies traditional predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Revealed
According to the official announcement, "An unusual meeting draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of prohibited ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses resonate through the shadows." The storyline introduces a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a clandestine group.
The mission concentrates on "strange tests and a fearsome foe" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Changes
The teaser highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Additional Features
Players who finish the adventure will obtain an unique katana alongside several artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Update
This update also adds the game's newest complimentary story episode, titled "The Mystery." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime series. The series formerly included a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally featured a quest that clearly referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
